DIY UPDATE

last week, i attended an opening at the toronto free gallery showcasing initiatives to take back public space. i was most affected by ‘create the situation: ideas for engaging with one’s city and inhabitants’ a series of zine-activity books by jennifer delos reyes and kerri-lynn reeves. their inspirational activist ideas include placing a photo of a loved one in art gallery, making a small gift for someone you interact with everyday, posting a notice in your neighbourhood offering a service for exchange and much more. i really enjoyed reyes and reeves suggestions, presentation and heart. DO IT YOURSELF at the city-betterification level. community starts with you and i.
