goodbye bushy, we’ll miss you
only a few days left… i knew who george w. bush was before 9-11 and i knew how stupid he was too. stupid as in stubborn and ignorant, self-righteous and petty, easily manipulated while fundamentally clinging onto out-dated and ultimately destructive misconceptions about what’s what and who’s who. you know, stupid. i have to admit i followed the 2000 presidential election from the start. i knew who george jr. was before the hanging chad, even before he won the republican presidential nomination. i’m a nerd like that. i try and pay less attention to u.s. politics now. too much… stupidity…
bush is now generally loathed, despised. even within his own stupid party. he has been for many years, especially after his mostly legitimate reelection in 2004. most people are eager to see him go. we’re all just counting down the days. but i think we’ll mostly miss george w. bush. miss his antics and his misquotes, his charm and his, they call it ordinary quality. i wrote a poem about it early into george’s second term. read it. here it is:
Bushy

i see Bushy daily on the tv.
He is a very important man.
He makes very important decisions.
and appointments.
He makes lots of appointments,
to his cabinet, doctors, etc.
He also fishes,
and watches tv, just like i do.
i wonder if He watches himself daily on the tv?
i’d wager we don’t watch the same shows.
Bushy is reviled.
people don’t like Him.
they disagree with His decisions,
and the way He makes them,
and lots of other things.
i agree with them, basically.
the other people from before.
not Bushy.
no, no,
not Bushy.
still Bushy is.
He will dismantle social security.
tens of millions of people are anticipating their cheques.
He will do something in iraq.
tens of millions of people are anxious.
neither are good.
and still,
Bushy is.
what are we all going to do about it?
i don’t know about them,
but i think i’ll sit back,
and passively,
enjoy the next four years.
i think i’ll miss Him when He’s gone.
no more Bushy on my tv screen or internet websites.
no more laughing, or funny talk or passionate loathe.
i guess we’ll all find somebody else to hate,
or lots of different things, or people, or what have you,
but Bushy is a unique individual,
and when it comes down to it,
red, white and blue,
make light purple.

i still think i’m right and then some. i think bush will live on in our hearts and minds and on our tv screens long after he’s left the oval office. and i also think one day history will be rewritten and that george w. will be revered. ronald reagan style. mass state funeral. flowing tributes. a model to look up to, evoke and be judged against. i think one day geogre w. bush will be a known as a true american hero. cut down the cherry tree and all that. george w. until then, and i write this sincerely: fuck you President Bush. fuck you…
